TOO BUSY TO STOP?

Something I have struggled personally with a lot of my life, and became very aware of once I began working in business is taking the time to rest, to slow down, to pause - and, for that to be okay.

Not making myself, or needing to make myself wrong for it.

This in itself has been one long continual journey - to give myself permission to rest, that it is okay to take some time out, to step back, that it is okay to sleep in or past 6am, that it is okay to prioritise my health over the hustle, that my phone can wait, that people can wait, that there is no other priority higher than this, and that my life will run below par if I choose to run it from an empty tank.

The truth is sometimes it is still quite the challenge to step back and to let go, to surrender to what serves my highest self.

It's a continual practise of learning to listen to my body and give it what it needs instead of the good old reliable hustle mentality of ‘pushing through’ time and time again.

I just know the push through better.

The push through though, when done well and continuously, will lead you straight to the disconnection, dysfunction and dis-ease that resides within your body.

When you choose not to listen.

The less you listen, the less you can hear.

The stories running this conditioning are generally related to time;

‘I’m running out of time’

‘I don’t have enough time’

‘I just need to get this done’

‘If I don’t do it, it won’t get done’

I hear these too often in conversation when talking with others about their health and how it's impacting their life and why they cannot do the things a) they know they need to do & b) will be the things to support them from the impact.

There is no point where there will be nothing for you 'to do' - ‘then’ you can rest.

The story you tell yourself about time is an illusion, one that will keep you in the rat race of life, unconscious, unpresent and unable to stop, to be.

One that will run you head first straight into a wall.

It’s not an issue though, until you are forced to stop right?!

Rest in all forms is a necessity, not a luxury.

Without rest, without taking care of your body, of your health, you are a walking, ticking time bomb.

Thinking you are somehow immune to it yet questioning why you’re body keeps breaking down, why you keep running out of steam, you've got an empty tank, no space for much else, why your energy is lack lustre and why tomorrow always sounds like a better idea.

What's the rush about for you?

I mean, if you don’t learn listen and slow down...

Your body is eventually going to 'fight' back.

Not to fight you, but to fight for what is needs to try and keep up with you.

What do the consequences of that look like for you?

How does that then impact not only you, but all the other areas of your life?

And, if you don’t like the answers you have to these questions, you have got to ask yourself what are you willing to do about it.
